Dakota Ridge is a super fun trail just outside of Denver. This trail goes up and down across a ridge-line with great views of Green Mountain and Red Rocks. Just don't expect this trail to be super secluded. On a ridge between two pretty main roads, you never really lose the car noise. But that doesn't mean this isn't a great trail! You still feel like you're in nature and catch some incredible views and fresh air/the smell of mountain pine!
Start this trail at the stegosaurus lot, just south of i70, just west of 470. You climb quite a bit to gain the top of the ridge. Once you are up, there are all sorts of gorgeous places to pull off and enjoy the views! Lots of perfect rocks for sitting!
This is a great trail to get some exercise in, with its ups and downs! Just be aware, this is also popular with mountain bikers. This trail is an out and back, but you can connect with trails around Red Rocks on the south end of the trail if you wish to make the adventure longer!
Overall, this is a fun, rewarding trail super close to Denver. If you have a spare afternoon, this is a great trail to hit up and watch a sunset. It is also a great trail for anyone visiting from out of state to acclimate with before conquering higher altitude trails. Be sure to bring some sunscreen, this one can get pretty hot!
With its inclines and declines, this is a fun trail to get some exercise, whether it be walking, trail running, or biking!
Fairly easy, scenic, and close to Denver, this is a great trail for the whole family, as well as the puppers!
Check out Golden before or after your hike for some awesome places to eat/drink!
The parking lot for this is just South of i70 in Golden. This is close to Denver and easy to access! The lot is large.
