Rocky Mountain Arsenal is a fabulous park tucked away in Northeast Denver. With gorgeous rolling prairies, lake hikes with views of Denver and the mountains, a wildlife drive with a buffalo herd, and more, this is an amazing place for an adventure!
Once a military site, now a wildlife refuge, this place is over 15,000 acres with over 300 species of wildlife! This is an easy adventure, a flat trek around Lake Ladora, making it great for the whole family. After the hike, drive through the Wildlife enclosure and check out the buffalo herd.
You can actually hike around two lakes, Lake Mary, and the larger Lake Ladora. Both are flat easy walks with stunning mountain views. There are actually over 10 miles of trails in the park if you're feeling extra adventurous! Outdoor restrooms and facilities exist throughout the refuge. Also, there is no entry fee or permit required!
