Mohawks Lakes is an incredible adventure just South of Breckenridge. I actually got engaged at one of the unnamed lakes above Upper Mohawk Lake, so needless to say, this is a favorite!
Starting at the Spruce Lake Trailhead, this adventure climbs through some stunning forests, along side of an amazing waterfall, until about mile 3 where you will come upon the stunning Lower Mohawk Lake. Mining ruins are aplenty, including an intact old cabin, as well as a cart near the lake that makes for fantastic photo opportunities.
Keep climbing for a little less than a half mile and 500 feet and you will come across the incredible Upper Mohawk Lake. Here you will be treated to a pristine, blue alpine lake, as well as expansive views of the Ten Mile Range! this is a great spot to stop and have a picnic and appreciate the wonders of where you are! If you continue past Upper Mohawk, there are a few more gorgeous unnamed alpine lakes. This adds a bit of milage to the adventure, but it is worth it!
