The famous Troll of Breckenridge, this is a quick, fun adventure if you are in the Breckenridge area. The trail is only about a quarter mile to the troll, making it a super easy trek.
Created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, this enormous troll made of recycled materials is a joy to see. Dambo is a world renowned artist who brings awareness to recycling and upcycling by building amazing things out of what some people would view as garbage.
Just a short walk from the Breckenridge Ice Rink parking lot, this is an easy adventure and great for young kids. There is usually a line to take pictures with Isak, so be aware. Dogs are allowed on the trail, just be sure to keep them on a leash.
Remember to be respectful of the troll, and do not climb on him. Moved from his original location, take good care of Isak and his trail and he should be a resident of Breckenridge for many years to come!
This is a great little place to take the kids. It is a super short trail and they will certainly love the troll!
There are quite a few picnic tables right at the trailhead next to a quaint stream. There is a fantastic vegan wood-fired pizza joint in Breckenridge called Piante. This would be a glorious place to eat a pizza with family and friends!
Isak makes a great spot to take a photo. Be aware there is a pretty much constant line of people taking pictures with him though.
Park in the Ice Rink lot. Trollstigen trailhead is shared with the Illinois Gulch trailhead. Follow the troll signs, it is hard to miss!
